I love my iPod nano it gets 5 stars but the thing that brought it down is iTunes it's so complicated to use and it takes to long to load but i love the look and features of the nano tip: when you first buy your nano it's a good idea to buy a case because it takes up dust and scratches if you don't and it will make the sleek look of your nano go away also buy a service plan because for the battery because it is ireplaceable

If you thought you knew what Apple was planning for its first widescreen video iPod, you were sort of right, sort of wrong. Surprising the millions of people who expected the company to add a hard disk and remove the cell phone from its iPhone design, the new iPod touch does remove the cell phone, but continues to use flash memory -- now 8GB ($299) or 16GB ($399) of it. The good news is that both versions sport an 8mm thick enclosure that's even thinner than the iPhone, and continue to include the Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) functionality found in the iPhone, enabling you to -- for the first time ever -- browse the Internet from an iPod, as well as access Wi-Fi hotspots to download music directly to the iPod from the new iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store. In essence, iPod touch is a stripped-down iPhone that shares many of the same applications but adds only two major new features to the formula: video output to a TV, and the option of extra storage capacity. One color is available -- black -- and the headphone port has interestingly been moved to the device's bottom. We'll be updating this piece with additional details and photos shortly.

It stores a lot of music and photos, and fits in your pocket. I'm a musician, so I can't live without my music; however, anyone who loves listening to music will enjoy it. As with any other iPod, you can have everything you want to hear, whenever you want it, without carrying CDs. The photo feature is also really cool. I've had it for over a year and it's been working flawlessly!!!

Pros: The extra playback hours are definitely a good thing - I'm finding that I probably get around 10 hours of audio playback with my 4 month old 5G.

Cons: The video is still 65K colours- I doubt the new version albeit brighter is going to get close to the Creative Vision:M with its 256K colours (amazing screen quality compared to ipod - it really makes a big difference - the ipod looks washed out and lifeless).

Review:

The 80 GB iPod is the most polished and fully-feature iPod to date. Music, videos, photos, podcasts, games, and notes in the palm of your hand. In addition, an 80 GB behemoth is at your fingertips too. However, the iPod does have some minor but noticeable flaws.

PROS:

- Most sophisticated iPod yet with music, videos, photos and more
- Brighter backlight then its preceding generation
- Extended battery life gives more video playback time
- Spacious 80 GB hard drive
- Five year old and aging click wheel continues to show its ease of use
- Well supported by the prestigious iTunes 7 media program
- Overall, a well rounded media player that everybody should have

CONS:

- Overall, no new major installment to the iPod then its last version.
- As its predecessor, iPod screen and especially body very prone to nicks and scratches. Also leaves unattractive fingerprints and smudges.
- Small iPod screen not ideal for extended periods of video-watching.
- Very narrow video-format compatibility
- Does not contain official software or instructions on how to convert common video file formats such as AVI or MPEG to the video format the iPod only reads, MP4

Review:

I just bought a refurb iPod 40 gig photo with firewire from the Apple Store online. It was the best priced model that still works with Firewire. Since I do not own a computer with USB 2, I wanted to stay with Firewire. Regarding malfunctioning iPods, you have a one year hardware warranty. If you choose not to buy AppleCare for the extra year, that is unfortunate, and not Apple's problem, but the users. Guess what? Sony's MP3 players come with a 90 day warranty, and Sony has a reputation for good quality. Point being: not Apple's fault if unit breaks down after one year if you don't purchase extended warranty. All electronics are made in China anyway, so buy the extended warranty. More later after using the iPod for a while.

Good
The iPod Nano has a gorgeous, superslim design with a bright, photo-friendly screen. It is easy to operate and works seamlessly with iTunes and the iTunes Music Store, which has the world's largest selection of music. It boasts a nimble processor and system performance with no skipping, thanks to flash memory.

Bad
The iPod Nano suffers from unspectacular battery life, and though the device is durable, it scratches easily; blemishes show up more drastically on the black version. The Nano is pricey in terms of gigabytes per dollar, and its 4GB maximum capacity is not a good fit for many power users. The player skips many sought-after extra features such as FM radio and A/V-out, and it doesn't work with Camera Connector. The USB power adapter ($29) is not included.

Bottom Line
Thanks to its limited capacity, the gorgeous iPod Nano isn't for everybody, but it sets the standard for MP3 players to come.

Review

We liked the original iPod mini for its superior ergonomics, easily readable screen, jazzy colors, and good music performance. Audiophiles have complained, however, that the mini just doesn't have a whole lot of kick at the low end, and our subsequent testing confirmed that. Apple doesn't talk about its players' audio performance, and the company is running true to form here. They've improved the mini's bass performance, but would never say so for fear of tarnishing the reputation of the earlier product.

Yeah, you can officially file that under deceptively sketchy looking -- Apple's legal team called demanding we take the shot down, claiming ownership of the photo, and that it was "stolen" from the company. Ooook. Granted, Apple doesn't send takedowns to all confirmed-true leaks -- take the new aluminum Mac keyboard, for example. Apple never gave us a hard time when we broke that story. Still, Apple's legal team wouldn't be wasting its or our time if they didn't feel there was something to lose by inaction, so until further notice we're considering this the real deal.
